ABOUT US
HWY53 Student Ministry exist to make Jesus famous by serving, loving, and leading.
We believe that if a student leaves the Student Ministry with the following concepts then they will win those years of their life:
- I am created to pursue an authentic relationship with my Creator. (Wonder of God)
- I belong to Jesus and define who I am by what he says. (Discovery of who I am)
- I exist everyday to demonstrate God’s love to a broken world. (Passion to make Jesus Famous)
WONDER: Every one of us has a desire to marvel. We are looking for something to amaze us, something to incite wonder. There’s a generation of students growing up in today’s church who are somehow missing the wonder of who God really is and believing that He isn’t big enough for their experiences.
DISCOVERY: Every person is wired for adventure. We are curious from the womb. We want to explore, to see something we have never seen, something that helps us understand new things about ourselves. Many students today never make the discovery of who they are in light of God’s truth, and many feel that He isn’t relevant to their lives.
PASSION: Every one of us longs to make a connection, to make a difference, to have intimacy, romance, and companionship. Many students today fail to engage in a God-given passion to become authentically involved in the lives of others. They don’t feel He is real enough for their relationships.
How we demonstrate God’s love to a broken world:
- Go Serve: to live a life that is much bigger than just about me. (Mark 10:35-45)
- Go Love: to have love become more than just a feeling, put love into action just as Jesus did. (Matthew 28:37-39 & 1 Cor. 13)
- Go Lead: to see a need in the community and world and do everything I can to meet that need. (Jesus’ Life)
FAITH SKILLS that we believe helps us Go Serve, Go Love, Go Lead:
- Navigate the Bible (Survey & Locate): Learn where you can go to find verses that will help you with specific questions.
- Personalize Scripture (Memorize & Apply): To remember Scripture when you need it most and apply it in everyday situations.
- Dialogue with God (Public & Private): Talk to God when it is just you and when you are in public.
- Articulate Your Faith (Share & Defend): To be able to wrestle with what you believe as a teenager so that you can begin to own your faith.
- Worship with Your Life (Serve & Invest): This is the loving others part; to know how to give back to God and serve Him in the way you live your everyday life.
